I have been deepening in my practice of astrology and tarot since 2022. My connection to divination techniques is tied to my desire to reconnect with my ancestry and pre-colonial spiritual practices, and to live in greater alignment with the energies that empire has tried and continues to squash. I recognize that both astrology and tarot have been colonized, capitalized on, made palatable and marketable by white supremacy for centuries. I especially recognize as a person living on occupied Turtle Island, I carry a privilege that those from original lineages of astrology and tarot do not. Especially, I acknowledge the insidious action of white privileged people stealing closed sacred practices from Black people Indigenous to Africa, Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island, and Indigenous people all over the globe.

I am a mixed race, second generation settler living on Turtle Island. My paternal grandparents were from Poland and the Czech Republic, and my mother is from the Philippines, her grandfather from China.

The Roma People (long persecuted peoples in what is known as Europe) have been known for hundreds of years to have a practice of fortune telling and divination. Christianity has and continues to demonize the use of astrology, tarot and divination. Wealthy, privileged white women adopt the stereotype of the “bohemian”, put on a flowy dress, wear some dangly earrings, buy some sage and call themselves tarot readers, without acknowledging the inherent political action they are taking.

“Due to their itinerant nature, cartomancy and divination were often practised as a means of economic survival. So, racialised economically deprived, mostly women, would tell wealthy white women and men, their fortune.” (This is Gendered)

I practice Western Astrology, which can be traced back to 3000BC in Ancient Mesopotamia. I continue to learn from those who use an anti-oppressive lens, who come from marginalized and racialized backgrounds and regard their practice as a part of an abolitionist, anti-racist revolution. I offer all my readings at a sliding scale rate because I believe it should be available to all and that I am privileged to to be studying it.
