Need quick, easy, accessible movement practices for daily nourishment? Here are six body based practices for navigating challenging times. Each can be done in five minutes.

ONE

What: Shaking. Shake body parts. Shake your whole body at once. Shake for an extended period of time.

Why: Nerves. Anger. Needing to move something. Feeling stuck.

Astro: Aries. Mars. Aquarius. Uranus. Mercury. Virgo.

TWO

What: Active Rest. Curled forward on knees in a ball. Lying down on back. Legs on the wall.

Why: Integrating. Processing. Energy needed. Resting.

Astro: Cancer. Moon. Capricorn. Saturn.

THREE

What: Swinging and Flopping. Swing your arms side to side, opposing arms, bent knees, up and down. Flop like a rag doll.

Why: Need to express. Need to let go. Taking a risk. Being silly. Detaching from how we look.

Astro: Sagittarius. Jupiter.

FOUR

What: Slow tracing of space. Curling spine forward. Arms tracing circle down. Spiral spine pushing side to side. Drawing shapes in space.

Why: Breathe. Be present. Notice. Observe. Tuning in. Finding beauty.

FIVE

What: Tapping and “washing” body. Cover your whole body as you would with soap. Repetitive strokes, gentle pats. Firm self hugs.

Why: Nourishment. Fill up your cup. Care. Holding self. Tenderness.

SIX

What: Explore Polarities. Move Fast then Slow. Move Big then Small. Move Heavy then Light. Move Hard then Soft.

Why: Getting out of feeling stuck or feeling indecisive. Invite in new ideas. Increase feeling capable and creative.
